The Anarchist in the Child

It is rather sad and unfortunate that some adults are not able to recognise and understand those learning needs of a 3-year old. In the process of growing up in a mechanized world dominated by systems and structures that brutally strip us of our own humanity in the name of order and efficiency, a lot of us have been dehumanized to perceive the freedom and creative tendencies of a child as a problem that needs to be handled before it gets out of control. Just like an automaton that has been programmed to destruct any violation of order, we react scornfully, at times violently, to a child’s active nature; to his/her resistance against irrational authority which, most often than not, is based on his/her natural sense of justice. I believe we need to take a leaf from the anarchist in a child and reflect on how completely screwed up we have been as grown ups.
